Some of my blog followers who can speak and understand tamil but
could not read, requested bagawatham translated in English. My sincere thanks
to Mr.Sridharan, Yogacharya of KYM, Chennai for his crisp clear translation.
The translated version is more interesting than the Tamil version. I am requesting
Mr.Sridharan to continue helping me, in bringing out the English version of
Bagawatham in future.

Narada, son of Kalavati, attained pure glory by hearing and singing the captivating stories of Lord Vasudeva
everyday. He attained that path leading
to the lotus feet of Lord Vishnu which Sadhus reach through Jnana. The mother of the young lad (Narada) died
bitten by snake. After the death of his
mother, the boy proceeded in the northern direction. In dreadful forest which
was the living place of snakes, owls and jackals, he drank water from a lake
and sat under a Peepul tree and started meditating on the Supreme Being as per
vedic injunctions. At that time Lord
Vasudeva entered and took place in his mind.
After some time, loosing sight of Him, he became sad and called the
Lord. But he could not see Lord Vasudeva
in that life and his last days came.
At the end of Brahma Kalpa,
taking back the three worlds when Lord Narayana entered the Yoganidra in the
great deluge, the soul of the young man entered the breath of Lord Brahma who
wanted to go to sleep.

As per the calendar of
Brahma at the end of 1000 yugas, from the breath of Brahma who rises up from
sleep to create, nine sages including Marichi were born. Then Narada was also born.
देवदत्तामिमाम् वीणाम्
स्वरबर्ह्म्मविभूषिताम्
मूर्च्छ्यित्वा हरिकथाम् गायमानस्चराम्यहम्
स्रिमथ्भागवथम् 1.6.33

Narada started wandering
singing the stories of Lord Vasudeva by playing on the Veena which decorated
with the Nada Brahmam of Nishadam, etc and given by Lord himself. After hearing the story of Narda, Vyasa who
mind was dispelled of disturbances composed ‘Srimad Bhagavadam’ in the Ashramam
called ‘Samyaprasa” which was full of Badari (jujube) trees.

That story of the Lord (Bhagavadam) which on hearing dispels
sorrow, delusion and fear and induces devotion, was instructed to Suka his son
by Sage Vyasa.
